Between 1900 and 1910 one of the children of John and Elizabeth had died. Minnie Mae was only child in household in 1910 age 10. Benjamin would have been about 15 in 1910 and he is not in household so I am guessing he is the one that died. Daughter's Dluty F and Hassie J were not in household in 1910 and one of them married a RECTOR and had a daughter Nellie Mae born about 1912 By 1920 Minnie Mae had married a McCray and was widowed by 21 and grand dtr Nellie Mae Rector was in household of John and Elizabeth with widowed Minnie. Minnie Mae McCray then married Floyd E RECTOR who may have been brother of unknown Rector, father of Nellie Mae. No birth records found in Nacog Co in the 1930's showing Nellie Mae as mother. 3. I would really be indebted to anyone on the mailing list who would transmit copies via the Internet of two files found in the Rick Still Collection, Box 2, Folder 10 Court Action, located in the CD Cabinet at the Stephen F. Austin Ralph W. Steen Library. Any reasonable reproduction costs would be reimbursed. The items are: (1) Order to collect fees from Atanacio de la Cerda et. al. including the estate of Maria Padilla and Antonio Padilla for N. J. Moore et. al., 9 December 1867. Document of receipt of said fees collected, 7 January1868. 2 Items. (2) Transfer deed of heirs of Maria Padilla and Antonio Padilla to Giles B. Crane, 5 March 1868. The information is desired to establish the descendants of Antonio and Maria Padilla. I was advised months ago when these documents were first requested from the library that the Rick Still Collection was being put online. A second request after some time had elapsed did not produce any results, and only a small portion of the collection is currently online. Living in Virginia it's not information that I can easily obtain myself, and it will probably be a year or two before we will be in the Nacogdoches area doing research ourselves. I'll see what I can find on Willis Gooodman. I appreciate all of your efforts. I don't have an actual copy of John Claud Goodmans application for military service: here is what I have that someone sent me: "A book of Nacogdoches people in the war was published by Carolyn Ericson and I found : Goodman, John Cloud Born: ca. 1842 Natchitoches, Louisiana Service: Co. J., Capt. Christian Coleman Barnes' Infantry Regt., 13th Arkansas Militia Comments: rejected pension application; to Texas in 1866" The application was rejected for some reason. The only burrial that we have found (and I can't lay my hands on it right now) was in a Cemetery near Garrison, Texas (that is where John and Elizabeth lived) it had: "J.C. Goodwin" died June 1920. Thank you Harold Gosnell

Household: Willis Goodman, 35, b. KY; Mary Goodman, 30, b. LA; James, 12, LA; Willis, 10, LA; Sophia, 6, LA; Eugenia, 4, LA; John, 2, LA. There was only this family and another Goodman family in Orleans Parish in 1850. There was a John Godwin in LA in 1850 whose age was not even close to your John. I was not able to find the Willis Goodman family after 1850 nor a John Goodman/Goodwin born in LA. In 1900 John's father was listed as being from Georgia and mother not listed. In 1910 and 1920 his father was listed from AR and mother from MS. John should have a death certificate on file that may list his parents names if Elizabeth knew who they were. What names appear on his application for pension as "witnesses" to his service? I can try to find those persons to see where they were after the war. Paula

    1. 1920 GARRISON CLAY PRODUCTS COMPANY
    2. Vivian Toole
    3. I am posting this for Andy in New Jersey who called me yesterday sbout doing some research for him. This posting is my act of genealogical kindness for the day. Does anyone know anything about a Garrison Clay Products Company in July 1920 in Nacogdoches County. His maternal grandfahter, Francis Reynolds who was a shoemaker from upstate New York, died not too long ago. He served in the navy during World War I and had just gotten out of the navy about that time. Among his papers was found a stock certificate #2 for 300 shares of Garrison Clay Products Company at $1.00 each. This was quite a sum of money in those days. Perhaps a half a year's salary for him. The family knows of no connection to Texas. They think for some reason, this might have been a contact Mr. Reynolds made with someone in the area who served with him in the navy. Was there such a company in the Garrison area of Nacogdoches County about 1920? Are there mineable, marketable clay deposits in the Garrison area. Did this company last for any length of time? Fall apart in the 1930's? Get bought out or never actually get started. I know Homer Bryce Stadium at SFASU in Nacogdoches is named for Homer Bryce of Henderson Clay/Brick Company at Henderson in Rusk County. We bought the brick for our house in Cherokee County from that company. Then there is the pottery at Marshal. So I was curious about this inquiry. Somewhere I have read seen or heard about companies or individuals who either for a hobby or business trace old stock certificates. However, I don't remember any particulars. My only suggestion for him was to make some inquiries through the New York Stock Exchange, somehow, since he lived so close, to see if it had ever been publicly traded there before trying to hire somebody in Texas to look. Anyone have any suggestions for Andy in New Jersey. Vivian Cates, Alto, Texas
