Spencer b:1878 Ind Terr/Ok..John settled in Nacogdoches and died there 1951, military restration 1918 list him as resturant owner, had no Social Security, I just recieved death certif on John, and parents are unknown...My only hope is in finding his nephew, his father is probably the only brother to my John. I'm also searching for Andrews death records. I've not found Andrew on any other census except the 1920 mentioned. I also found a William Spencer on the 1880 census of Tom Green Co,Tx at age 25 b:abt 1855- Eng and widowed, he was a butcher living with a Robert Fairbank occupation as meat market, also living there were several other men listed as a Texas Ranger, a musician, a laborer, and a a dry good clerk., they were all single, except for William Spencer, widowed..his wife may have died there during child birthing of my John.1878.. a marriage record between 1875-77 or female burial abt 1878 probably fr Tom Green Co might solve this puzzle,, Finding this William on any other census will probably help prove or disaprove the facts here! Also found another Andrew Spencer age 1, was 1/16th Ind- blood. On the Dawes Final Rolls Results of The Choctaw Indian, and also listed was a William A Spencer age 44., with 1/8th blood; and also Eveline at age 40, and IW (INTERMARRIAGE) I haven't the actual documentation on this yet! (the card number and roll numbers are listed)..a trip to the archi! ves for further information here. Could this be parent's?..Any help in solving this is greatly appreciated..Thanks pemerson11@msn.com patricia
Dear List Members: This is just a reminder that it is not too late to sign up for the 9th Annual Angelina College Genealogy Conference! Spaces are still available. Registration was just opened the first of the month so that those with weekday jobs can register and attend Saturday only and just pay for the one day. I am a regular member of this list. I started the conference in 1997, but I retired from active participation after the 2003 conference. I am just trying to help with last minute publicity as a volunteer member of the Angelina County Genealogical Society helping with the conference this weekend. Please pass this message along to other web sites and e-mail lists where people might be interested in a last minute trip to East Texas for the weekend. For complete information and to register on line, click on the college web page below. The conference is held in Lufkin, Texas at Angelina College and is one of the best values for East Texas and other genealogists who want to enhance their research skills without incurring high hotel and travel expenses as at the conferences held in large cities. Here is the announcement recently sent out by the conference coordinators: While we encourage full-conference registration, by popular demand from those working people who cannot attend on Friday, we will now offer SATURDAY ONLY - BY PRE-REGISTRATION. Go to the website at http://www.angelina.edu/genealogy.htm to see the Saturday program. It's an opportunity to hear four excellent speakers ... ... plus morning refreshments, a box lunch and a complete, excellent syllabus that will be a reference book in your personal library. TO REGISTER: Go to the website, register online or use the printable form for mail registrations. On the line at the end of your name print SATURDAY ONLY. It is vital that the Saturday-only attendees register immediately [NO WALK-INS] so an extra lunch and a syllabus can be prepared for you. ============================== Search the US Census Collection. Sorry for any multiple recipients but this is important! A brand new USGenWeb Project has been started specifically for African-American research. All states are represented. There is a Surname List as well as other research tools on the site. Please visit and support the site. The goal of USAAG is to become a centralized location for African American research thru out the United States. The address is http://www.rootsweb.com/~afamer/index.html Please pay them a visit and contribute anything you can to the available records! Even a link to your own research site might help someone else! African-American Research is extremely difficult because of the lack of historical records before the Civil War. Hopefully this project will be of some help to researchers of those of African-American ancestry and those just interested in history for the love of history!

In my information I have that Joseph Nealy Rogers was the son of John & Jane Elliott Rogers. I have his bd as 8/1/1815 in Ala. and death as 10/23/1896 in Nacogdoches. I have that he was married to Nancy ? and they had the following children: John Novel who married Mary Catherine Lewis, Margaret E., William W., & Mary E. The Stone Cemetery has a J.N. Stone and wife N.C. Stone. Unless I am blind (and I may be) I have not found this family on any census. Does anyone have any information on this family? Thanks Maggie

Maggie, In trying to find the info you asked for-death and burial site, I ran across a posting in World Family Tree by a Rebecca K. Judkins of Smithville, Tennessee. Do you have access to WFT or do you know Rebecca? The posting is Vol. 114 Tree 499. The tree of Charles R. Judkins b. November 23, 1846. Son of Charles Gray Judkins(b. 1815 Sussex County,Va.)and Elizabeth Basket (b. about 1818 Tn.) Elizabeth's parents were William Basket and Catherine ? . Rebecca lists Judkins back to Samuel b. May 10, 1556 Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland d. about 1585. Also do you connect to the Hearne family from Douglass, Nacogdoches, Texas? 1880 Census lists C.G. Judkins as a carpenter in Douglass. If I can help further, please let me know. WFT sent mailing(snail mail) address for Rebecca if you want/need it.
