I have visited that lovely cemetery in Appleby. It contained a surprise for me, because May Deen Reeves was my grandmother. She died before I was born, and I never knew she remarried after the death of her first, and long-time, husband, Abner. She married a man named Tom Johnson. Jewel was my very beloved aunt.

There are several families of Reeves in the NACOGDOCHES COUNTY FAMILIES book printed in 1985. I did not find the names you mentioned but,Johnathan Floyd and his wife Emma(Barrett)Reeves did extensive genealogy research on the REEVES families-back to 1490. He published a book REEVES REVIEW in 1976. I donot know where you might find a copy. I am not related-only found this in NAC. CO. BK. In particular, for the librarians and attorneys, a great place to visit, whatever your particular area of interest: http://www.resourceshelf.com/2004_07_01_resourceshelf_archive.html Resources and news for information professionals, and other nosy people. Another North Carolina researcher shared this new and interesting website: http://digital.lib.ecu.edu/historyfiction/index_files/about.html It does NOT cover the entire state of NC at this time...a search engine is included.
George W. BERRY lived in Nacogdoches a brief time in the 1920's-1930's. He was separated from but married to Cora Alma PETTEY. Two daughters: Mary Sue (Sudie) and Omie BERRY. His first wife was Annie E. SPIDLE; two sons. He had lived in Tenaha for many years; after Nacogdoches, he moved to Crockett, then perhaps to Abilene. Does anyone recognize this BERRY? Thank you, Adrian S. Balch

Selden, Jr., state that Judge Richard S. Walker who married Eliza J. Clark, daughter of Judge Amos Clark, his law partner and father-in-law was born in Barren County, Kentucky and that his aunt was Emily Walker Wheeler, wife to Judge Royal Tyler Wheeler who were living in San Augustine in 1846. He had earned his law degree from Transylvania University at Lexington, Kentucky in 1844. He was appointed district attorney in 1848 and fought with poor health and in 1874 was well enough to accept an appointment by Governor Richard Coke to serve on the newly created commission of appeals. The commission was overwhelmed by the Appeals to the Three Judges appointed in the newly formed Third District and was abolished after the resignation in 1890 of Judge Richard S. Walker. His speeches and addresses were recorded in the papers of the times, and he died in a sanatorium in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1901 in his 77th year survived by two sons and a daughter.
The biggest problem with birth records back to 1903....they aren't complete. I can not remember exactly the year, but most birth certifications were not mandatory to be issued and most of the births were never recorded. My mother was born in 1925 and she has what is called a delayed birth cert issued in 1933. Some counties have earlier records that the mandatory date but the records were hit and missed.
I was born in Nacogdoches Co. in 1931. My cousin in 1929 and my mother in 1911. I had a birth certificate. My mother and cousin did not. Nacogdoches has excellent records. If the doctor turned it in, they probably had it. If he didn't, they didn't. All of us were born at home. -----Original Message----- From: Allene Schooler [mailto:allenes@netgate.net] Sent: Monday, August 01, 2005 2:33 PM To: TXNACOGD-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TXNAC] Where are Nacogdoches death certificates 1903-1930?
