    1. Old Roads in E. Texas, Diary Accounts
    2. Gary Pinkerton
    3. I'm working on research into old roads into Texas, particularly Trammel's Trace, and am interested in any diary or other first-hand accounts you may be familiar with that talk about: - routes of migration - ferry crossings - conditions of roads and trails - distances from one point to another - rivers, landmarks, settlements - any mention of roads, trails My period of interest is from 1800 through 1845. I know this is a broad request, but what I am looking for is in those tiny tidbits and gems that are in first-hand accounts of the conditions and events surrounding travels to and through Texas. Thanks... Gary Pinkerton 409.201.8026

It was raining and my last digital camera wouldn't cooperate. I lost about 20 pics. Next time I go to Carthage I plan on retaking some, and will get that one sent to you if you want. His marker is just inside the gate of cemetery on the left. Mahala Caroline Witherspoon is buried perhaps 30ft on past her son's marker, as you walk deeper into the cemetery. Family story is William F Witherspoon died on a wagon train, choking on some beeswax and was buried on the trail somewhere. One bit of info implies this was a wagon train to AR or MO...
