Which area of Texas did the Rogers live. A preacher Rogers lived at Woden in the 50's in Nacogdoches County, then moved to Jacksonville to a church there. We bought a place that they had owned and have some records like tax receipts and about property. Betty
Hello: Thank you for your reply. Yes, I do have a copy of all the census records with D.R. Rogers with his wife and family. I have been looking from this man for over ten years. I just need his real name. I do understood people did use different first names, why? My own father married my mother under a nick name he like better than his real name. The area, at that time, where the Judkins and Rogers family (in Texas) lived is not that large. You would think I would find some kind of a connection with all this different Rogers in this area. I do know that the Judkins married Rogers' and the Davis' have Rogers also in the family. So, who are these people? I do know that the surname of Rogers in the 3rd most common surname. thank you again for you reply, charlotte
This was going to be my theory: On the 1900 Census, Isaac J. And Rebecca Rogers seem to be the only couple in Douglas old enough, and both from Alabama, to be the parents of your Dock. On the 1880 Census in Nacogdoches, Pct-1, Isaac and Rebecca have a son listed, Richmond, age 1. I was going to suggest that Richmond's full name could be Dock Richmond (D.R.) Rogers. But, I found a One World Tree posting that this Richmond died in 1885. I have not found any proof of this yet and, if inaccurate, this could be your Dock. Of course, you are aware that Dock Rogers and family are found on the 1910 Census in Newton Co. And, also, that Etta and 2nd husband Jesse Gladden are buried in the Cushing Cemetery. That's all I know, however, this exercise may help me on my own family tree. On the 1900 Census, Isaac Rogers and family was living next door to George Jefferson Rogers. I suspect that they are brothers. George Jefferson also had a son named Richmond, b. 1899, who was the 1st husband of my grand-aunt Rosa Lee Pitts. I am trying to find and purchase a copy of Ernest Clement Helpenstell and Daniel Seelbach Families of Prussia and Texas Ancestors and Descendants, 1982, by Mina Seelbach Helpinstill. Hi Yolanda, It's Martha Priscilla "Pricy" Acrey, my 3rd generation great grandmother which makes me a 5th generation descendant of Abner Absalom Acrey. I used Bricy for years depending on material of an indexer/abstractor, but when I got a look at the actual census film, it was clear to me that the researcher mistook a P for a B. Thinking about it, it made sense that Priscilla would be called Prissy. If the census taker had spelled it like that, it would have made much more sense to us today.
