You are Cleveland's sister aren't you? I think you may know my mother. I know it is hard to follow upon research leads from California. Can you imagine the challenge of doing research from Anchorage, AK? I am glad to be of help. I saw on one census that your mom was called Phrony. I have done some research on the Valrey or Valery name as well. Let me know when I can be of further help.

My folks were all born is Louisiana; and in 1943 my parents (Felix and Saphronia Valrey) moved to California.... where I live today.

I found your lee Brown. he was born July 29,1879. In sept of 1918 he and his wife were living in Church La. Lee Brown Married Wealthy Burns 03 Apr 1898 in Catahoula County Lee's mother was Margret and his father i can only find as W. brown right now, but will look for more info on him Amy

There father was Sampie (Sam) Brown of Nacogdoches, TX. Lee Brown was born about 1874, in Lousiana. He died on May 24, 1931, in Pineville, LA. I have located Lee Brown on the 1910 & 1920 censuses. Let me know if this information helps. I have some other leads that I have not had a chance to follow up on. Do you live in Lousiana where you could travel there personally?

My maternal grandmother was Maggie Brown; her mother was Wealth Burns Brown. Wealthy Burns married Lee Brown. They had a lot of children. Do any of these names sound familiar?

~Hey All, I went to Nacogdoches this past week to look for information on my sister's house. She was told that it was built by a capt. Harris, but I have found that most likely it was not built by him, it was built by a James Crawford who bought the land from Oscar E Broyles and Jenna Oxsheer Feb.19,1900. James Crawford was a carpenter/ house builder. He married Ada Cook. Does anyone know anything about James Crawford? The house changed hands many times before my sister bought it last year. I am also working on finding out what community was located where the Old union cem. is now. There was a school there at one time also. I think the school was called Old Union School but unsure about that. Thanks so much for any help, Amy Black
