Chuck, That is wonderful! And it is the right family. But they did have a child, my grandmother, Annie Mora but of course they always said she was a Moore and we did not know the difference until 8 or 10 years ago. Her children didn't know as they raised her to say Moore. I was always told that her daddy was a quarter Spanish from Spain but in reality I think he may have not been. I so want to find out more about them. By the way, I was born in Chireno in 1941. My mother was Allie Mae Bryant and she was blind since the age of 3. Most people knew her there for counties around. My father, Roy Gregston was killed in a car wreck near Melrose in 1970. Mother died when she had back surgery in 1990. Betty Gregston Redfearn 10877 Redfearn Rd. Aubrey Texas

Lois, My grandmother was a Mora from Nacogdoches. Her father was named Gabriel Mora and he would have been near the age of John or J.E. Brothers, perhaps? Based upon a bit of census searching for San Augustine Co., TX, I have found: 1900 Prec. 3 Joe Mora 34 (born about 1866 in TX) and Jennie Mora 18 (born about 1882 in TX). Married 2 years with no children; living close (listed above them on census page) to three Quinn sisters: Olive, 25, Mary, 20, and Dee 16. 1910 Prec. 3 Belton Thompson 29 (head of family and first marriage) and Jennie Thompson (29, second marriage) married five years, with children Edna 4 and Lula 10/12 Thompson and step daughter (to Belton) Annie B. Mora, 7 (born about 1903). 1920 No "Mora" in San Augustine Co. census. I hope the above helps, Chuck. ----- Original Message ----- From: <DBRedfearn@aol.com> To: <TXNACOGD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, February 12, 2006 1:18 AM Subject: Re: [TXNAC] Cloudy/Mora > Does anyone know about a John (J. *My grandmother died in 1953, I think, so she wold have been able to ssign your family's guest book. My uncle, R.L.Ynfante was also in WW2. My other uncle, John Ynfante married Josephine Chireno. He died in the 1960's and she died about 5 years ago. It sems like everyone from that generation is gone. Carolyn, Thank you for the information. I have not seen the book, but I have seen copies of the information Eddie Mae King wrote on the Morton family. I discovered a website yesterday listing the gravestones in the King Family Cemetery. http://www.geocities.com/bethel_75961/KING.html I'm a little confused because it appears there are two gravestones, one for Anna King, and one for Matha Jeffanna King. This is what is say: KING, ANNA BORN: IN 1861 DIED: IN 1950 SPOUSE: ANDERSON KING CEMETERY:KING KING, MARTHA JEFFANNA JACOBS BORN: JUL 17, 1861 DIED: Dec 15, 1950 SPOUSE: KING, ANDERSON AUGUST MILITARY: NOTES: DAUGHTER OF CLAIBORNE & SARAH E. FEWELL KING CEMETERY:KING This may just be an error, or perhaps "Anna Jacobs" is on Anderson King's gravestone rather than a seperate grave. Anyway, it created some confusion for me! You mentioned NACOGDOCHES COUNTY FAMILIES -- do you know if/how I could get a copy of that book? I'm also very interested in researching Martha Jeffanna Jacobs family. I believe her father was James Jacobs, and her mother was Mary Chisum, perhaps the daughter of Elijah Chisum and Delilah George. Thank you again for the information, you've been very helpful. The American State Papers have been useful for me. Now the Library of Congress has combined many congressional and other documents under one search engine. Hint: Don't search for "Washington." :-) http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/amlaw/lawhome.html Gary Pinkerton
Martha Jeffanan Jacobs is the daughter of Claiborne Jacobs & Sarah E. Fewell, who were married 1 Jan 1857. Claiborne is the son of James & Mary Chisum Jacobs. You were just one generation off. James & Mary are the grandparents --- not parents. Are you familiar with NACOGDOCHES--GATEWAY TO TEXAS? There are three volumes -- one contains data from 1773 to 1849; two contains data from 1850 to 1880, and three [in two volumes] contains data from 1881 to 1920. In the different census records these families are all listed on the same few pages, so I'm sure they were neighbors in the Alazan area and had children who married neighbor's children. Lots of double-first cousins. The Chireno's and Molandes' families were like this--several Chireno brothers and sisters married Molandes' brothers and sisters. I recall seeing the name you mention--oh I remember--my uncle Floyd Molandes was killed in Germany in WWII. His was the first body brought home to East Texas after the war was over and there was a big deal about the arrival of his body and it being taken to Cason Monk Funeral Home. I just recently visited the Daily Sentinel archives in the East Texas Center at SFA and read the newspaper articles. Either my grandparents didn't have them or they somehow got lost--I had never seen them before. Someone named Ynfante was one of the pallbearers. And the name Jane Ynfante is signed in the guest book for my other Uncle Joe Molandes' funeral in 1950. So, I assumed they were close family friends, if not relatives. I'll have to look at census records but I do know that after Joe Cloudy died, Josephine Mora Cloudy married John Henry Molandes. They had 3 children. Then Josephine died and John Henry married Francis Chireno (a widow). Most of the Chireno children had married and did not live at home by then. But they mostly married Molandes kin and still all lived in the same area according to the Census records. OH, and then John Henry died and Francis remarried--someone named Montes I believe. I will check with my Great Uncle Jack Molandes--he is still alive and a great source of family information. He was married to Mary Chireno. so he will know more about Jane, I'm sure. I'll see him at a family reunion in April. I can also email his daughter--she would surely know if that is one of her mother's sisters. I have found the cemetery records that are on-line to be extremely helpful--although some of the dates on the tombstones are incorrect, according to family Bibles. Searching for more information on my great-grandparents-- Joe Cloudy and Josephine Mora Cloudy. Children were Effie Cloudy Molandes and J D Cloudy. Believe that Joe's parents were Deleres and Effie Lazarine Cloudy. Josephine was child of Parlola Mora (possibly Piola in census) and (I am told) Sterling Asa Moore (they were not married).
