    1. Nacogdoches County Families Book
    2. Pam Phillips
    3. Hi, everyone, Several of you have asked about the Nacogdoches County Families book, and I know there are others here who have ordered it or have been thinking about ordering it. The book has definitely been reprinted. It is a fait accompli and the Nacogdoches Genealogical Society is now waiting for the actual physical books to be shipped. The shipment is due from the publisher any day now. It was to be by the end of October. What happened is that several people from the Society, who have ordered county histories (from other counties) in the past, and then never received them, decided to put in their own money so that the book WOULD DEFINITELY be reprinted, and hope to recoup their investment when all the orders are in. It was felt that if people KNEW FOR SURE that the book was going to be reprinted, they would be more likely to make an order. Since the decision was made to actually go ahead and reprint, people have been asked to send in the full amount. If you have ordered the book and paid in full, then as soon as the shipment arrives, your book will be mailed to you. If you have sent a deposit, then you'll be notified that the book has arrived, and it will be shipped to you as soon as the balance is received. I will keep in close contact with Carolyn Ericson who is the current President of the Nacogdoches Genealogical Society (NacGS) and will let you all know as soon as the books arrive. We are all very eager! Sincerely, Pam Phillips Email: [email protected]

    2. Hi Robin, >From the information you gave, you may already have seen the book NACOGDOCHES COUNTY FAMILIES done in 1985 by The Nacogdoches County Genealogical Society. But, in case you have not, there are "stories" about the following: the FLORES FAMILY (#F320); Jose Policarpio FLORES (#F321); and Joseph Andres FLORES (#F322). Your Vital FLORES is mentioned. These are written by Carolyn R. Ericson and James F. Padgett. The book has just been reprinted and information regarding cost, etc., may be obtained from [email protected] Good luck. 3. Ms. Hinton, one of the problems with posting the list of obits is that they are paid advertisements. My dads cousin passed away recently in Houston and the family did NOT pay to put in an obit in the family. I for one would have loved to read it, but there was none. 3. Pam and list, I will be glad to post only to East Texas Roots. You will not see the Houston Obits on this list any more. I do have interest in Nacogdoches County and will focus my activity on this list to that end. I didn't get you E-mail earlier or I would have already stopped including you in my post. I would like to say to all those people who have been SO RUDE, you really don't need to take that tack with someone who is just trying to help you with your research. 1. Use Digest Mode for TXNACOGD
    2. Jimmy E. Cooley
    3. Suggest that those who don't like the Houston Obits switch their account to the DIGEST mode. This will decrease number of messages you receive and can be deleted much faster. 3. John, Thank you for your reply. Sometime we have to have a little BS to get things straightened out. I would not corrupt a list for anything. I too receive about 200-300 e-mails a day and have to sort them out. I am asking for guidance from list administrators and am certainly open to suggestions. In the end, I will decide the best way to handle this situation, but I will not be deterred from posting the OBITS from Houston somewhere. It is a very large area of the state and I think they are beneficial. It does take me considerable time to post them and reply to people who are interested in getting the full obit for any individual, but I enjoy helping others and know that someday I may need help too. It will probably take a few days to get this straightened out so I hope everyone on the lists I am posting to will be patient.
