    3. Hi I am new to the list and would like to ask a favor of someone. I am trying to find any information on Clarence Welch b 9-2-1894 who died August of 1969. Last known residence was Nacogdoches. I am not sure if he died here or not but would someone be willing to try and locate an obituary for me? I would greatly appreciate it. Chris - Iowa

    1. OBITS and UNSUBBING
    2. Pam Phillips
    3. If you wish to respond, PLEASE respond to me at [email protected] Dear friends, I am still getting people asking to unsub from this mailing list by replying to messages and writing unsub or some variation. This will not get you unsubscribed to the mailing list. The controversy over whether the Houston Chronicle obits should be posted is over, people have stopped complaining about it and we are ready, able and hopefully willing to move on. Janie Hinton has been unfaililngly kind and cooperative. She is going to submit the obits to East-Texas-Roots but not here. Please note that Janie did post her *own* family's obituaries to this list. These are people who lived in Nacogdoches County, and she was asking if anyone could give her any further information on these families, including HINTON and RAWLINSON. This is a legitimate way to make use of this mailing list, and it is completely different from posting obits from Houston. People have many reasons for deciding to no longer subscribe to a mailing list and what you choose to do is certainly up to you. BUT if you are a Nacogdoches County researcher, and the only reason you tried to unsub was to avoid the controversy over the obits, there really isn't any reason to unsub now. However, if you want to unsubscribe, here are the instructions. There is an automated computer that handles subscriptions and unsubscriptions. It is located at this address: [email protected] Note the addition of the -request to that address. Send an email to that address. In the first line of the BODY of the message, just put the one word unsubcribe Please be sure to send that request using the *same* email address you used to subscribe. I have several different email addresses, and if I use the wrong one, I'll get a message saying I wasn't unsubbed because my name wasn't on the list. People then write to me and say, but it is OBVIOUS I am on the list because I am getting the mail. However, what that means is you are getting the mail, but under a different email address. To get off, you have to unsub with the address you are subcribed with. If saves everyone a lot of time and effort if you will subscribe and unsubscribe yourselves. Please, follow the instructions and do it yourself. If you are having trouble, write to me at [email protected], but please, as with a query, give me *details* so that I can go to the utilities page and try to find the address you are subbed under. Writing to me to say "Take me off your list" doesn't help, because I manage several and you haven't told me which one. I need the name of the list, your name, the email address and a specific description of the problem you had unsubbing. If you unsubcribe and later want to resubscribe, once again send the request to [email protected] and put the one word subscribe in the first line of the body of the email message. Again, if you want to unsubscribe, that is fine. If you stay, I can't promise that you'll find everything on this list relevant, and that there won't be any more problems. However, I can promise that whatever problems crop up CAN BE RESOLVED without people unsubbing. It just takes a wee bit of patience and everyone's cooperation. Sincerely, Pam Phillips Email: [email protected] Listowner: TXNACOGD-L

One item mentions OLD PHOTOS, Etc which can be posted on a specific site, and there is a posting for the VAUGHT family there. Here's the info from RootsWeb: Have you found a genealogical treasure, such as a photo album or an old Bible containing a completed family record page, that you would like to see reunited with its family? If so, you may post a notice about it on the SOMEBODY'S LINKS GenConnect board at <http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/SomebodysLinks/>. Suggest you take a close look at that site. norm

    3. I am seeking information on the following: Joseph Henry Bruton, born 14 Dec 1826, Madison Co, TN. married Mary Ellen Love, born 1850, Madison Co, TN. Both died in Nacogdoches County, Texas. Their son, Jesse Pitman Bruton married Caroline Virginia Rook, born 1863 in Nacogdoches County. Her father was either Henry George or George Henry Rook. Henry was born in 1821 in Ohio if what is indicated on the 1850 Nacogdoches census is correct. Does anyone have any information on this man? I would also love to hear from anyone that is related to any of the lines above. Thank you very much in advance. Glynda Logwood Churchill A Texan in yankee land.

    3. Well, folks, This is exactly why I always hesitate to jump on people. I have just sent several messages to the list that were intended to go privately -- just what I had been asking you all NOT to do. I think we are all tired and upset and stressed over this controversy and need to take a deep breath and move on. I apologize to those people whose messages went to the whole list. Sincerely, Pam Phillips Email: [email protected] Listowner (with egg on her face) TXNACOGD-L

    3. Carolyn, please. This is really inappropriate and just just adds to the problem. Please do not write anything more about this to the list. Even if there are replies to this message, please DO NOT RESPOND to them. This is the only way we are going to be able to move on from this and I am ask and expect your cooperation. > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] > Sent: Thursday, November 04, 1999 12:36 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: FROM THE LISTOWNER: OBITS for Nacogdoches and for Houston > > > RESEARCH PEOPLE! > WHO IS AFRAID OF ALL THE KNOWLEGE THAT IS BEING SHARED? > MAYBE SOME HAVE THE WRONG THOUGHTS ABOUT WHAT SHARING IS AND MAYBE THEY > SHOULD BE GIVE AN ALL DAY SUCKER< > SO THOSE OF US WHO WISH AND PRAY FOR THE DAY WHEN WE FIND A > GRANDFATHER THAT > FOUGHT FOR THE FREEDOM OF ALL. > THE COMPLAINERS WILL SEE IT WAS NOT FOR THEIR FREEDOM ALONE > BUT FOR ALL!!!!!!!!!!!! > HOW COULD YOU, WHOEVER YOU ARE UPSET THIS KIND GIVING PERSON??????? > I SEE ALOT OF SPOILED CHILDREN, THROWING THEIR FITS!!!!!! > WHY NOT TAKE YOUR TOYS HOME AND LET US WHO WANT TO SHARE< SHARE> > TAKERS< NOT >GIVERS > IS WHAT YOU ARE >
