    1. Re: Lovelady
    2. Roy. Thanks for the info on Lovelady, TX. Was the area developed or named something else before 1872? My ggrandmother was rumored to have traveled there many times to visit, but she died in 1868, so I don't know how that could have been possible if the town was not yet formed. I have been trying to find out who she was visiting for the last two years. Any suggestions? Linda

    3. Lovelady is in Houston County, TX which was the first county organized after Texas won its independence from Mexico and became a Republic (1837). Houston County was organized from Nacogdoches County but Lovelady was not established until August, 1872. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Wednesday, May 10, 2000 10:39 PM Subject: Lovelady >Does anyone know if Lovelady, TX was ever in >Nacogdoches Co., TX? >Linda >

He married Alice Adkins Sims and they had one child, my ggrandmother Eva Mae Thacker b.1903 Travis and Alice divorced when Eve was a baby and she didn't see him again till his funeral bt.1910-1915. I don't know for sure, she always said he was buried at Attoyac Cemetery. I'm not real sure if the cemetery is in Nacogdoches or San Augustine Co, Tx. I have been to the cemetery before but did not find his grave. She said he lived around Chireno, then later in Nacogdoches. Any information would be great. 3. I don't know about this Sparks family, but they may be related to one I have been sort of looking for. They lived in the Oak Ridge Community of Nacogdoches Co. - Not that many miles from Nacogdoches. My mother had malaria when I was a baby and the Sparks family was so kind to us. There were a good many children in the family. They moved away while I was still very young. My mother told me any number of times that she wished she could find them and thank them for for their kindness. 3. Thanks Shirley for the lead...I found marriage record finally on Eliza Jane Summers under her nickname Jennie to John M. Caraway 6-7-1878 so Lizzie Caraway could possibly be a dau. I have found land deed yest at court house where in 1894 Jennie and 2nd husband C.S. Power sold land in Garrison back to her Mother Emily C. DeLoney. They have a baby girl, Maud Power buried in Greenwood Cem in Garrison at the end of the DeLoney Row...we never knew who child was or why buried there.. glad to find out. My great grandfather Richard DeLoney was very hush mouthed and never told anyone of his ties to his 1/2 sisters...odd. I'm really having to dig hard to find info...older Aunts know nothing, bless their hearts. Guess next step is back to census to find where Jennie and C.S. Power moved to when they left Garrison.
