    3. Thanks Allen, I appreciate your reply. In researching my Willis Bentley family, I found it necessary to research the Whitmel Bentley line since they had been in Nacogdoches Co., Tx. for such a long period of time before my Bentley family settled there around 1870-71. I believe that the two families may connect way back in the time of late 1700's-early 1800's, but it will take time to prove it out. Thanks for the information. 3. Good to see you on the job. I have enjoyed "chatting" with Marilyn. She also has a Dawson line we chatted about, but it didn't connect. I have been working on ours. It is the really only thing I have gotten back recently. I have it documented. I think I sent it to you. Just one generation back of William to his father, Thomas. I made connections with a lady who has a family with earlier connections with similar names in the same area. The only thing is that the piece of paper I have says Thomas came to Henrico Co., VA in 1703. I had assumed he was the immigrant. Maybe I misunderstood. I will have to pursue that. I also have descendants of Sarah's brother, Isaac. 3. Hi, I recently learned of a marriage in Nacogdoches County on 12 Jan 1879 between B. J. HEATH and Fannie ALVIS. I am anxious to learn more about this Fannie ALVIS. I am interested in her age, where she was born, and whether ALVIS was her maiden name, or her married name from a prior marriage. If anyone could help me fill in the blanks, perhaps from the marriage record or from census records, I would be very grateful. 3. Hi Allen, I would be interested in finding leads that could connect the family of Willis Larkin and Ann Davis Bentley with a family in Nacogdoches Co., Tx. There is a chance that the Family of Whitmel Bentley may connect way back in the late 1700's-early1800's, but I have not proven out a definite connection. I feel that family brought the Willis Bentley family to Nacogdoches co. from War torn Georgia. They probably traveled thru the Red River Valley area of Louisiana/Texas as they came down from Georgia. They had a daughter "Sallie" Sarah Jane Bentley Raney living in La. after Civil War. They were in Nacogdoches Co. by 1871 when Willis died and was buried in Douglass Cemetery. Three daughters and son Larkin married around that time in Nacogdoches Co., Tx. Ann, Willis' Widow, went on to live with Sallie Raney, who had moved with Husband George W. Raney and children to Belton, Tx. and Ann Bentley died there in 1883 and is buried at Resthaven Cemetery. So, this should give you an idea of what I know to be true, along with words of other Bentley Descendants who have written about the family lately on [email protected] and I know that I would appreciate any words that you might have to offer about our family. 3. Many people lived in the area even though the town of Lovelady had not yet been set up. The Houston and Great Northern Railroad purchased 320 acres of land from Henry Lovelady (one of the heirs of Cyrus Lovelady who owned the original 630 acres) and divided it into streets and lots. Some of the early families in the area were Lovelady, Gayle, Barbee, Neville Hartt, Clark, and McCarter. This is not an all inclusive list. Also in this area were several small communities such as Center Hill, Lone Pine, Neville's Prairie, etc. My grandmother was born in Lovelady, Houston, TX on August 30, 1895. Unless your g-grandmother was visiting family it may be extremely difficult to identify who she was going to visit. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Sunday, May 14, 2000 5:02 PM Subject: Re: Lovelady >Roy. >Thanks for the info on Lovelady, TX. >Was the area developed or named something else before 1872? >My ggrandmother was rumored to have traveled there many times to visit, but >she died in 1868, so I don't know how that could have been possible if the >town was not yet formed. >I have been trying to find out who she was visiting for the last two years. >Any suggestions? >Linda >

    2. Thanks, Roy Well, that is the problem there are many family stories of my ggrandmother, traveling from MS to TX and staying at her sister's house in Lovelady. My ggrandmother's maiden name is Elizabeth Allen, she married William C. Moss but he died in 1860 and she had to let 2 of her daughters be raised in Lavaca Co. by her late husband's brother, with no living descendants. Elizabeth supposedly died around 1869, but we can't find the grave and I was hoping to find it around Lovelady. Her other 2 daughters were left in MS (my grandmother being one of them) and raised by Elizabeth's sister Nancy Allen Word. All the children were under 10yrs when their mother died so, I have not found any documentation. Just word of mouth. If I could just find the almighty letter with her name in it (don't we all wish for this) maybe I could prove something. My belief is that Cyrus Lovelady's wife is either my ggrandmother's aunt, sister or cousin. But I have found no ancestors for Mrs. Lovelady, or anyone with any of her letters. Have you? Linda
