I received my Nacogdoches Genealogical Society "Yesterdays" in the mail yesterday. I was interested to see - in the Forehand Bible - at the bottom - J. H. F. Thomason was born May 26, 1826. Following that, there is Mary A. Thomason was born May 16, 1834. That would work for a Mary listed as a child of James Marion McKnight b. abt. 1835, TN. (Nacogdoches -- Gateway To Texas). Jacob H. F. Thomason was the son of David Thomason and his wife Jane Hamil. This Bible record shows Thomas Henry Forehand, born September, 1838 in Tuscumbia Colbert Co., AL, died 25 Dec 1917 Karnes Co., TX. His wife was Martha J. Thomason I have Jacob H. F. Thomason b. 26 May 1826 m. 5 Dec 1850 Mary Ann McKnight. They have a daughter, Martha J. born abt 1853. Would this Martha been the wife of Thomas Henry Forehand above? That might explain whey her parent birthdates would be in this Bible. However, that would make Thomas Henry Forehand about 15 years older than Martha J. Not all that unusual in those days. Does anyone have any information on this family other than is in "Yesterdays?" I find no Forehand information in any of the Nacogdoches Co. books I have checked. Betty

To the north is Carson City; Lyon County is to the east, and California is to the west and south. Douglas County includes the towns of Genoa, Minden, and Gardnerville (these three towns plus the surrounding land encompass Carson Valley). Carson Valley is one of Nevada's first settled areas and includes the state's first permanent settlement, Genoa. Since Douglas County was primarily a ranching community, the area was much less transient than those counties whose chief industry was mining. Many of the families found in these records still have descendants living on the same ranches and in the same towns that were inhabited by these early Nevadans more than 100 years ago. Hello, I am proud to announce the creation of a new mail list called TX-Cemeteries. This list has the encouragement of Gerron S. Hite, Cemetery Preservation Coordinator in the History Programs Division of the Texas Historical Commission and he's excited at the opportunity to share his feelings about our cemetery preservation to a large group all at once Others that have been notified, Lee Campbell, Past Representative for the Texas State Genealogical Society {and my cousin} and her friend, Past President of the TSGS Wanda Donaldson. I've let all the following people know about the list and they may join from time to time. Yvonne Pickens, current President of the TSGS. Trey Holt, coordinator for the Texas GenWeb. Wyndell Taylor, creator of GA Cherokee County GenWeb page, {and my cousin}. <Smile> I just have a lot of cousins !!!! The main focus of this list will be to locate and catalogue our endangered cemeteries. Gerron Hite has obtained a new program to help us give our cemeteries "Historic Texas Cemetery Designation". He is willing to help us learn how to accomplish this designation. This will also be a topic for us to address. I am an experienced RootsWeb mail list admin. Currently I manage the mail list for VARoots, SC-Old Pendleton-District, and the Brand surname list. I am also experienced in the survey of large and small cemeteries. In addition to the topics above there will be discussions on how to preserve and restore old monuments with the help of a caretaker with over 25 years experience. To join the mail list simply send a message to [email protected] with only the word subscribe in the subject line and nothing else. If you prefer the Digest send a message to [email protected] with only the word subscribe in the subject line and nothing else. I look forward to seeing you there, Respectfully, donna brand

Do not know if this would be a connection to your FRY or not, but thought that I would send it out just in case. THE GREENVILLE EVENING BANNER Jan. 9 , 1921 TO BUILD NEW GAS STATION It was learned thismorning that F.M. HUSBANDS and T.C. FRY of this city have arranged to errect a gasoline filling station and automobi service on East Lee Street on the vacant lot adjoining the North Texas Marble and Granite Works on the west. They have completed all the preliminaries and within a short time the actual work of building the establishment will begin. Mr. HUSBANDS AND Mr. FRY are both well known and prominent men here, having been in Greenville the greater part of their lives, and in opening the proposed business on East Lee Street they will have a strikengly promising opportuity to build up a lucrative business for in that section of the city the need for a filling station is as yet unfilled. The demand for quick service in replenshing automobile and truck tank supplies has created the demand for the "drive in and out" type of service station which has become universally popular in this country. The station as proposed by these gentlemen will face south and will have a circular drive way by which cars going either east or west on Lee Street can drive next a pmp filler, and have their tanks filled with gasoline and oil with the opportunity to see just what they are getting. Both gentlemen have been connected with the M.K & T. RY. CO. as trusted employes for several years and have made many friends in both the city and surrounding country. RE: Researching the John B.
