He apparently bought land along the Angelina river and Carrizo Bayou. He sold the land in 1898. In 1900 Angelina Co. census, William, his wife, Elizabeth Boozer, and their to youngest sons, William M. and Houston Ballard, were listed listed in the HH of Marion Courtney. Their daughter Sally Ballard Courtney, her husband Robert and two son were also listed. The younger Wm. M. (1857-1904) married Molly Slay. They had one child, Willie Ballard b. 1904, d. 1978. Willie married John Tarpley Holland in 1931. They lived in Hunnington, across the river from Etoile. My grandfather Houston took me to visit Willie when I was 8-10. I didn't see a BALLARD on your surname list, but does the John Tarpley fit in your HOLLANDs? Vaughn
Michelle--Did your Terrys come from LA or MS? Our Terrys camd from NC/SC into MS and then LA--some went on to TX. Let me hear from you! Kay Terry

Digging through my grandmothers picture boxes, I found several pictures involving the Little Flock School around 1915. I have a vague idea where Little Flock was but can't locate it on any Nacogdoches County maps that I have. One of the pictures I have is of 27 children from ages 6 or 7 to late teens. One is my father at about 10-12 and his two brothers -- one 2 years older and the other 2 years younger. Three of the pictures are at a flag pole with the school in the background. One of the three contains five girls and my Uncle J.D. Ballard. Another is of a young Bertha Boozer and the other has been identified as a woman teacher name not remembered. The other two pictures have a door and a wall of the school as the backdrop with six girls in one and three girls in the other. One of the three has been identified as Nannie Mae Hill. Does anyone have any connections that lived between Nacogdoches and Woden in the period 1900-1940? Contact me and we can exchange pictures and info. Vaughn <[email protected]>
I've been scanning some of my grandmother's old photos and trying to identify the people in them. There are ancestors, their relatives, and friends. Most are not marked and there are very few people alive and with eyesight good enough to help the identification. I do have a group of pictures that do have names on the back. There are also penciled numbers. I see no connection but I'll discuss then in that order. 10. Two young women standing on a stump. There is a "Dog Trot" house in the background. The names are Rebecca Dawson and Susie Glazle. 12. Two young girls holding a large slice of watermelon. There are no names but a stamp on the back identifies the photo as a "Genuine BORDER Fox Tone Picture by Fox Co., San Antonio, Texas, Copyright 1925." 22. A young boy holding a dog and the same two girls as in 12 each holding a doll. The caption reads "Susie Dawson, Rachel Dawson, and J.T. Dawson." 23. A young man standing beside a railroad track. "Johnnie Dawson." 63. A young woman, "Elweno Dawson", with a railroad trestle in the background. I think I recognize this as the long trestle between Frost Lumber and the N & SE depot. 87. A very young boy in the yard of a 'dog trot' house. There are two other people in the 'trot' but it's hard to make out their features. The boy is Duwel Ben Dawson. Do these names sound familiar? Would you recognize the faces? I can't send attachments here but contact me and I'll send them direct to you. Vaughn <[email protected]>

Carolyn, Thanks for your help by posting queries. I am looking for George P. STANLEY and his wife Dosia HENDRICKS STANLEY who married in Shelby County in 1900. They probably moved to Nacogdoches County along with her parents family. Her father was William Hendricks. I would like to trace the family of George and Dosia. Thanks Reecie Stanley [email protected]
Just tell me what you are looking for -- name and time period. It helps to know whether you are looking for 1740, 1840 or 1940. Please include your mailing address also. Carolyn, I checked out the site. It looks good to me. You certainly don't need more experience with "KissinKuzzins." That column may have started my involvement with genealogy. Someone asked where Nat, Texas was located. I had worked a on a Milk Truck for few week during College, recess. Our route was Douglass, Nat, Lilbert, Cushing and on. The query concerned WHITE and my grandmother was a WHITE. I answered the query and found a cousin. She sent me copies of lots of data that she had obtained from you. I found lots of kin at the White Cemetery (Oops, Blackjack Cemetery) in Lilbert. Thanks for the effort over the years, Vaughn
