I would like to ask for a look up if anyone has the book, Antonia Gil Y'Barbo- Father of Nacogdoches As far as I know none of my ancestors are in the book but I have a mystery ancestor his name is Fountian G.(Garcir , Garcia) McDonald. He was bn abt 1829 supposedly from Va. but rumor is that he killed a man in a barroom brawl while attending Medical school, and he ran to Natchidoches La. I first find him in 1852 in Natchitoches La. Married to Caroline E Carroll from that Parish. They had one child in Sabine Parish in 1853 and the last one in Houston county Tx in 1855. He was a medical doctor. He is listed in the 1860 census of Houston county. He vanished or died there in that county in 1864 or he could have been apprehended by the law. I have found he was in the Masonic Lodge there in Houston co. Him being a Dr. you would think he would leave a paper trail 2 miles wide but not so. What I am asking if he has Garcia and McDonald in his name he may come out of the people listed in the book abt Nacogdoches co. I have been told both these names are in the book. I am asking for someone to see if he could be listed in the book. Thanks Richard Sharp

I found new family in the Nacogdoches area. Aylsie West - born 1847 married to James Monroe Cole moved to Nacogdoches. They show on the 1880 Census. Is there anyone else researching this family. Aylsie is my 2nd cousin 3 times removed. Now does that mean she's my 5th cousin or what. Never could understand how that works. Bettye Looney Bowerman I'm working on ROGERS, BETHEA, SAMPLE, LOONEY, POCKRUS, MALONE, COVINGTON, COCHRAN, PROTHRO, GOLDEN, HUDSON, RYBAK, TUPA, BOWERMAN, MILLER, SMITH, (the last two are on hold - too hard to - work)
I am looking for descendents of the Old Spanish Bluff - Moral Catholic Church settlement outside of Nacogdoches off Highway 7. I understand there was a Spanish Settlement in this location. My grandfather Sam Ramos (Ramous) came from this area and I am interested in interviewing anyone who has lived in this community. I am also interested in any written information concerning the community since it was established. I would appreciate any help or direction. Thank you. Barbara Orr

There is a W. S. Thomas(a Nun) listed with the able bodied citizens of Nacogdoches County 1870 Muster Roll of Reserve Militia. She is listed in Prec. 3 which would be Melrose. Can anyone help me with information as to how to find records on a Nun in that time period. I believe her to be a Great Aunt-sister to my Great GF William Marion Thomas Sr.(about 1832-1885) According to that listing she would have been born about 1839. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Mary
I would like to know more about the book that is out on Nacogdoches. I saw an e-mail at one time that mentioned the price and the Nacogdoches Genealogy Society. Could someone give me the address and phone number of this society and how to get this book. I need to know how to get in touch with them. I would like to know if my family is mentioned in this book before purchasing it. My Fortenberry's lived in Nach. when my GG Grandmother was a child. She was Cecila Ann Fortenberry and she was born in Miss. in 1838. I believe that she and her siblings were in the school census there. She married a Henry B. Miller while in Nach., I think and they had two children. I don't know what happened to Henry B. Miller but after their two children were born, he must have died just about the time of the Civil War. I think they were married in 1858. I am descended from Cecila Ann and her second husband, Redden H. Johnson. I wonder if any of the Johnson family are mentioned in this book. Redden's parents were Joseph Johnson and Martha Bryant Johnson. My Cecila Ann {sometimes spelled with an S instead of a C}parents were Jacob Fortenberry and Emma Earlene Hix or Hicks Fortenberry. She had a sister named Mary Ann Fortenberry. Hope to hear from someone on this. Thank you, Jane Little McEndree [email protected]

I recently discovered that our Warrick Ferguson, the son of John and Susan Ferguson, was married in the "Williams Settlement, Nacogdoches" in 1835. My question is, what is "Williams Settlement"? I would appreciate any help that your can give me on this. It has really pricked my curiosity. > Pam > > > ============================== > Shop Ancestry - Everything you need to Discover, Preserve & Celebrate > your heritage! > http://shop.myfamily.com/ancestrycatalog >
We still have them here in La. The williams settlement would have been where a clan of Williams families lived in the same area. Like here you can drive down the road and cross the Carter settlement then go on and find where some other family live in groups. Easy huh.
