Hi, Jane - Could you please post to your Montgomery Country USGenWeb website that MCG&HS, Inc. will host a speaker, Ms. Lois Myers, senior lecturer in oral history and associate director of the Institute for Oral History at Baylor University, on Tuesday, November 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the courthouse annex, 221 North Thompson, Conroe, Texas. Ms. Myers topic is "Getting Started with Oral History". It is designed for beginning oral historians. This workshop introduces basic oral history techniques: What is oral history? What can oral history contribute to local history and family history? What legal and ethical crieria must be considered? How are good oral history projects designed? What equipment is needed? What are the best interviewing techniques? How can we use oral history interviews once we have them recorded on tape? We are looking forward very much to Ms. Myer's presentation and think it will enable all who are interested in getting or giving oral histories for our upcoming Montgomery County History book. Thank you for your help in getting this information out to the public! If you have questions, email me. Melinda sponsor for Montgomery County, Shelby County and DeSoto Parish LA.
