This was passed on to me and thought it would be of interest if anyone is going to be in the San Antonio area this summer. <<<< 'Saw an article in Sunday's June 1, 2003, page 36A Houston Chronicle about Historic Papers going on display in San Antonio Witte Museum, entitled American Originals: Treasures from the National Archives". In this show will be a rare, 4-day display in Mid June of the Emancipation Proclamation by President Lincoln in 1863. The American originals will remain in San Antonio until Sept 1. Other documents will include: Beginning in 1682 with the order by the Viceroy of New Spain that fixed a southern boundary of New Mexico and ending with Nixon just-in case moon speech. Other prominent documents include the finalizeed 1803 Louisiana Purchase & the Civil Rights Act of 1964 signed by President Johnson. Also of Texas interest among them the credentials present to Congress by Sen Sam Houston in 1846; & a draft of President Johnson;s 1968 address in which he announced that he would not run for re-election.>>>>>>>>> thanks, Jane
