Obituaries J. L. "Mac" McCullough Cashner Funeral Home & Cemeteries, (936) 756-2126September 03, 2003 Funeral services for J. L. "Mac" McCullough, 93, of Conroe will be held on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003 at 7 p.m. in the Conroe High School Auditorium with Mr. Steve Yates officiating. Private family graveside services will be held on Friday, Sept. 5, 2003 in Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003 from 5 to 9 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home. Mr. McCullough was born on Aug. 21, 1910, in Stanton, Texas and passed away on Sept. 2, 2003, in Conroe, Texas. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force during World War II. He worked at Conroe I.S.D. for 50 years in the capacity of teacher, football coach, principal and superintendent. He was a longtime member of the Rotary Club and a recipient of the Paul Harris Award. He was a member of the City Council. His first wife of over 50 years, Eleanor McCullough, preceded him in death. He is survived by his second wife Myrtle McCullough, of Conroe; daughters, Margaret Ann McCullough Yocum and husband Jim of Conroe, Kay Camillo and husband Pat of Conroe, Sarah Carlin and husband Cliff of Conroe, Nora Cagle and husband Pete of Grangerland, and Candy Bradley and husband Dave of Willis; sons, James Lawrence McCullough and wife Elizabeth of Morgantown, NC, and Robert Shaw and wife Sharon of Kingsville; 27 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to McCullough Scholarship Fund at Conroe I.S.D., Frazier Street Church of Christ Camp Bandina, or to the Gathering Place at First United Methodist Church of Conroe.
