    1. [TXMONTGO] Peynghaus
    2. In response to the roll call . . . Fredrick Peynghaus was born 1815 in Prussia, he married Francoise Habermacher 5/4/1839 in Harris County, Texas and they lived and died in Montgomery County. Fred was a blacksmith and Francis kept the home. I would like to find the Naturalization papers for Fredrick Peynghaus which I was told usually occurs in the county where you live. Is this true and if so, does Montgomery County have these records somewhere? Thanks in advance, Cindy Meador Pirtle

    1. Re: [TXMONTGO] Re: TXMONTGO-D Digest V00 #29
    2. Since Walker & Grimes were once part of Montgomery, I have no objections to postings. I do want people on this mailing list to know that this is a very active society and just because they cannot attend meetings they sure still can be a member of the society. I first started the webpages for both Walker and Grimes. I don't go into them much anymore to see what the sponsors are doing. I'm sure they could use some help if anyone is willing. Anyone can start a mailing list. Just go to: www.rootsweb.com and see what lists are being used(either by family name or county name). If you don't see what you are looking for, consider starting one yourself. Nothing to it. NOW, does anyone have any queries. We do need some to put in the Herald. This is a good place to start, if you are looking for information so post it here to the mailing list. Maybe it would be a good idea for a roll call. For you new people, just email: TXMONTGO-L@rootsweb.com Then let us know what families and time frame you are looking for. I'll get it started after this letter. Thanks for the input. In a message dated 4/25/00 8:01:43 PM Central Daylight Time, JRose10700@aol.com writes: << I do wish this list could be used for something other than postings about meetings it is impossible for me to attend. Not that I object to the meeting postings -- I just wish more people would become active and talk about history of Walker and Montgomery and Grimes counties. I include the other two because there is not a mail list for them. So how about it, list moderator? Can we include the other two counties here, drum up a little activity and do some talking? 1. [TXMONTGO] Founders Day survery
    2. As Founders Day chairman, I do want to try and please as many as possible but everybody knows this cannot be done. So I am asking for your opinion before I make a final decision as what the majority of you would like. I have checked all over town and cannot find a place that will beat the First Baptist Church activities building. So, I have booked it for Sept. 16, Saturday. I was thinking if we start our meeting around 5:00 then eat we still can be home by dark. I feel Saturday is a better day as for those who work don't have to hustle to get there and then trying to get the cleanup done and out by 9:00. I feel we are so rushed at our regular meeting and this would give some time just for socializing. I checked some of the other churches and they want $400.00 and up for the rental of the building. The First Baptist is only $150.00. The Holiday Inn wants $600.00 and most of the restaurants cannot accommodate that many people comfortably. My questions now are: (1) if we have it catered, it will cost about $13.00 each. (2) if we want to bring a covered dish, it will be about $3.00 each. Our theme this year is to honor the charter members, so if you have any suggestions on this please let me know. Let me hear back ASAP so I can make the final plans. Jane Sanford Keppler Conroe, TX
