William Nelson PATE and wife, Clarkey Lucy McDANIEL Oliver Pate were in Montgomery County before August 1872 when their 5th child was born. Both grew up in Decatur County, Georgia, but were married in Jackson County, Florida.----------I am descended from their son, Andrew Lidden PATE I, born Nov. 1866 in Florida. Maximillian WALLACE and his wife, Salena RUMBY, were married in Bossier Parish, Louisiana, and were in Montgomery County before their daughter, Mary Frances's, marriage to Jehu MOORE in May 1869. Jehu MOORE (born about 1840) was in Montgomery County before the Civil War began.(Based on the fact that he served in the Texas Calvary and received a Texas Confederate pension). He had another family before his marriage to Mary Frances WALLACE. I would like to know the particulars of this second family as revealed in Montgomery County records for the settlement of the Jehu MOORE estate which occurred in the 1960s, I believe. Daughter, Clara MOORE, married (1) Andrew Lidden PATE I as his second wife. Mary 'Polly' Berry EVERITT Dunbar Moore, the mother of Jehu MOORE, was in Montgomery County by the time she appeared on the 1880 Montgomery County Census. She was related to other EVERITTS/EVERETTS who settled in Montgomery County. Polly Berry was born in Bulloch County, Georgia. She grew up in Washington County, Alabama, and was living in Mobile when the Civil War broke out. Both her husband and oldest son were missing from the Mobile home on the 1860 census. Other children of Polly Berry Moore also resided in Montgomery County: Sarah EVERITT Loustanou Sanders, Josephean Gaines EVERITT Martin, and Elmina EVERITT Currier MaryAnn PATE Hormuth Permanent e-mail forwarding address: MPateHorm@alumni.utexas.net
Looking for information on Nancy Denman White & Able White and Nancy White Denman and Moses Denman. They are brother and sisters who married brother and sister. Both families were in Montgomery Co., TX by 1840. before that in Tuscaloosa Co., AL by 1823. Before that in Habersham Co., GA. Able White and Nancy Denman married in Habersham Co., GA 1819. I haven' t found a marriage for Moses Denman and Nancy White. It may have been in Franklin Co., GA where both families lived before moving to Habersham. Moses and Nancy Denman were children of James Denman and Clarana Welborn who married in Wilkes County SC. Don't know who parents of Able and Nancy White were. Suspect that it is the Abel White Senior on the census in Franklin & Habersham Co., GA and Fayette Co., AL. Missing some key pieces in this puzzle Susan Young Medford OR.

This came in on another list and I thought it important enough to VietNam vets and family to pass it on. Dog Tags Found In Viet Nam On a recent "Today Show" there was a story about two men who went to Hanoi on a business trip. The men encountered a guy selling old GI dog tags from US servicemen who were killed during the Viet Nam War. They were disgusted by the thought of this man profiting from the sale of these tags. Upon returning to the U.S., they decided to go back to Viet Nam and purchase ALL the dog tags. They did so, paying 19 cents per tag! They brought home several hundred tags. The plan is to return the tags to surviving family members, when they can find them. The process has already begun with one set being turned over to a grieving Mom on July 4th, (coincidentally, it was on her birthday)! These two men have set up a website, http://www.founddogtags.com listing the names of all those whose tags they purchased. If you lost friends, family, or know of someone who lost a loved one in Viet Nam, I suggest you check out this website. If you recognize a name, there's an e-mail address to contact these two men and to help in their efforts to return the dogtag to it's rightful survivor. I'm sure a family member would be eternally grateful to have such an important item returned. Please help by checking this website. And please send the website address to everyone you know. The more people who see the lists, the greater the chance of returning ALL the tags to those who lost loved ones in Viet Nam! The discovery of these tags after so many years from servicemen dead, missing and in some cases still alive is mindboggling when you consider the emotions that will be reignited. I leave you to your own thoughts on this one.

August 6, 2001 MONTGOMERY COUNTY GENEALOGICAL & HISTORICAL SOCIETY, INC. Social 6:30PM Meeting 7:00PM Montgomery County main Library, Conroe TX. Emily Croom will be guest speaker. Subject is about putting together biographical sketches of ancestors (approaches, content, style concerns, self-editing, etc) with sketches that have some historical context built in for interest. She will discuss her family group sheet from her "Unpuzzling Your Past Workbook", that allows for documentation of every detail, along with this. This should be very helpful for the upcoming Vol. 2 History Book. thanks, Remember: You are the history of Montgomery County Texas. Hi, I have only quickly glanced at the information transcribed to this site. John Quincy Kidd is my ggg grandfather. There are two stones inscribed to him. One is a military marker and the other is the memorial. I noticed the military marker has been transcribed as John O instead of John Q. No big deal but there is no such person as John O. I would also be interested in knowing if Tom Vinson is related to the Kidd or Fenley family. I have photographed most of the headstones for Kidd and Moorhead families in this cemetery if anyone is interested in a picture they may write me off list for them. I also have a few for the Kidd Cemetery in New Caney. I would like some information. I have ancestors buried in the Danville Cemetery....or is it called the Good Shepherd Cemetery?? I thought it would be in Walker County (as is New Waverly) but the Walker County Cemetery Book at the Gen. Library in Houston doesn't have "Danville Cemetery", but shows the Good Shepherd Cemetery in that area. Could it be in Montgomery County? or Gregg County? Anyway, does anyone know how to get there? I was in the area of New Waverly & Conroe a couple of days ago, so I thought I would look for it, but I didn't find it. Can anyone help? Thanks Pat
