For any descendants of John Ritchie who monitor this Montague County Board, I am pleased to advise that the Veterans Administration has furnished a marker for his grave in the Montague Cemetery. The marker recognizes his service in the Mexican-American War 1846-1848. He was a member of the Missouri Volunteers. The marker was installed July 30, 2005. On one side of John Ritchie is the grave of his wife Catherine Long Ritchie, and on the other side, in the same plot, is Frank Potter (1853-1889).
