    3. Per the book, "Story of Montague County Texas. Its Past and Present", page 114-115, The first settlers came in the late 1850's, settling in a valley surrounded by hills, or mounds, and a flowing stream. A trapper with the last name of Dye built a trading post at the foot of one of the mounds. The community, the creek were named for him. There is no first name for Mr. Dye given in the article. I did make a photocopy and will send to you should you want it.
