I went to jr high and freshman year with JEan Richerson. Are you related? Yes! I guess the old buildings were pretty much gone , it has been about 20 years sinc eI was last up there. I am glad Nocona Hills survived, I had been told the fire damaged homes. My Grand Parents, Earl Tarrs lived in the area of Nocona Hills back in the late 1930's . He was a sharecropper on the thirds and quarters. That was before Valley View School became part of Prairie Valley. The last time I lived there was 1975 and I played volleyball for the Nocona Fire Dept Women's Team. My ex-husband was coaching at Prairie Valeey then. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I don't think there was anything in the old buildings to burn. The PO did burn and I don't know about the school. My GD lives at Nocona Lake east of Ringgold. They were evucated but the fire did not get to them. I talked to my brother who lives at Bowie. He drove up there and told me about it. We have land south of Ringgold but the fire did not get to us.
My Sister tells me it is in the paper in Stephenville, TX that 80 % of Ringgold was gone and that some of Nocona Hills was lost. Seems like fires are from Ringgold to the Dallas FortWorth area and other places in TX, NM OK Hope this helps Ruth Graham rgraham@premier1.net ----- Original Message ----- From: <texannusa36@yahoo.com> To: <TXMONTAG-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 02, 2006 2:34 PM Subject: Wild Fire Destroys RINGGOLD TX. Surnames: Tucker, Moore, Perryman, Emerson, Wilson, McNeil Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ikB.2ACE/345 Message Board Post: This might interest someone. From the Messenger published in Wise County, Texas. June 23, 1888 On an Old Charge DEPUTY SHERIFF TUCKER of Montague County brought to Gainesville Wednesday JOHN MOORE, who he arrested near Spanish Fort Saturday on a capias from San Saba County, where he is wanted to answer a charge of murder committed three years ago. When arrested, he was traveling with a team said to have been stolen in Kansas. Two fights occurred on the line of Cooke and Montague Counties, near Hardy, Tuesday evening, in which the weapon used was a hammer. The first was about the removal of a fence and the parties were JOHN MCNEIL and ROE WILSON, in which the former was struck with a hammer and badly hurt. The other fight occurred about two miles distant about the same time, between two brothers-in-law, AUSTIN PERRYMAN and MR. EMERSON, about the latter’s little son tramping the former’s potato patch. Perryman was nailing a gate when Emerson approached in a threatening manner, and Perryman dealt him a blow on the head with such force as to crush the skull. Emerson’s condition is said to be critical and fears are entertained concerning his recovery.

CLAIR, COMBS, BLACK, GARRISON Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ikB.2ACE/342 Message Board Post: This might interest someone--not related. From the Wise County Messenger published in Decatur, Wise County, Texas: June 5, 1886 On last Saturday morning, Constable L. G. TEETERS of this county, GEORGE GARRISON, and a ranger, came up with JIM ST. CLAIR, an escaped convict on the West Fork near the Jack County line. Teeters commanded him to surrender, St. Clair responded by a shot which took effect in the crown of Teeters’ hat, after which firing became general, St. Clair shooting four times and Teeters and party eight times, killing St. Clair dead. It was found that several shots had hit him. St. Clair was sent up from Montague County for five years for the theft of a horse, he had served his time except for about six months. Montague, May 31--News of the killing of Jim Saint Clair by Deputy Sheriffs BILL BLACK and CHARLEY STERLING of this county and GEORGE GARRISON and Constable TEETERS of Wise County, has just reached here. St. Clair was an escaped horse thief, having been sent from this county for horse stealing. The officers came on him near his stepfather’s GREEN COMBS in Jack County. On seeing the officers, he opened fire on them. Several shots were exchanged when CHARLEY STERLING drew his Winchester, fired and killed St. Clair. The officers came out unhurt. Teeters had a hole shot through his hat.

He also served in the Texas Rangers Frontier Battalion, Co. C during the year 1874. IF anyone can provide any help, please contact me. Thank you and have a great day.
