Hello All, I am searching for the families of LOUIS BYRD NORTON and MARTHA THERESABELLE YATES, who I believe were married in Grayson County prior to 1870. I know LB NORTON owned land in Montague County in 1874. Their daughter, LILY THOMAS NORTON married JR HICKS (I believe JOHN RILEY, though I have found records for JAMES and RILEY) on Oct 2, 1898 in Fresnal, New Mexico. JR HICKS' sister, SARAH FRANCIS (FANNY) HICKS married LEWIS JOHNSON (LJ) HINES in about 1881 in Denton County (?). Any information is greatly appreciated! Janice

For ever so long I had thought the "lost community" must have something to do with the Canadian River because my grandparents had lived near it. However, through the help of a local researcher in the area, I was able to locate Canady community in Montague or Cook County. Seems the community has long since disappeared as a separate entity, but fortunately an old essay written nearly a hundred years ago was located in a local library. It was a local area named for the school house on land donated by a local farmer named Canady. Thank you again. We family researchers do help one another so very much and must continue to do so.

Hello, I'm trying to figure out if you mis-spelled Dora Higganbotham (Higginbotham) last name. All of the Higginbothams in the Montague to Erath county area spelled the last name "Higginbotham" that I know of. I am a descendant of Sarah Higginbotham (b.1846 d.1895) and Walter Colquitt Williams (b.1844 d.1898). In that line there is a Mary Jane Eudora Higginbotham (b.1852 d.1936) who was Sarah Kathleen's sister. She was not married to James J. Berry though, she was married to John F. Jackson (no dates). Could yours be connected somehow with this one? Names and dates are so similar and the places are the same. I am probably barking up the wrong tree with this one, but what the heck. Also, their brother (Sarah and Eudora's) John Willis had a daughter named Dora who married a John Horn(?). I just don't see any Nell or Nellie and I've got a Higginbotham chart all the way back to England and Barbadoes in the 1600's. My Davis, Braddy, Hollingsworth, Williams, and Higginbotham lines were all in Montague co. and quite a few moved to Erath and then on to Galveston Co.
