Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. James Wheeless officiating. Burial followed in the Ben Arnold Cemetery. Mrs. Barkemeyer, a homemaker, was born Jan. 24, 1915, in the Clarkson community of Milam County to Gus and Martha (Sitz) Pimpler. She married Raymond Barkemeyer on Oct. 12, 1933, and he preceded her in death Sept. 12, 2002. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Ben Arnold where she was a member of the Women’s Guild. Two brothers, Raymond Pimpler and Ervin Pimpler, also preceded her in death. Survivors include son, David Barkemeyer and wife Margia of Cameron; brother, Edmund Pimpler of Cameron; sister, Lillie Boecker of Bryan; two grand daughters, Robin Goddard and Krisiti Haag; four great-grandchildren, Brandon and Ashley Goddard, Blake and Cole Haag. Memorials may be made to the United Church of Christ in Ben Arnold or the Cameron ISD Scholarship Foundation.
