Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Billy Crow officiating. Burial followed at Little River Cemetery in Jones Prairie. Mrs. Di Girolamo was born in Milam County on March 28, 1917, to Wiley and Maude (Burnett) Atkinson. The family moved to Jones Prairie when she was very young. She graduated from C.H. Yoe High School in 1934. On Feb. 4, 1944, she married Anthony Di Girolamo in Cameron at First Baptist Church and renewed their marriage vows on their 25th wedding anniversary at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elmont, NY. She and her husband lived in Elmont Long Island until 1979 when they retired. Mrs. Di Girolamo was a homemaker and a part-time retail manager for a department store in Elmont. Mrs. Di Girolamo was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Cameron Post No. 2010.  She was preceded in death by her brothers, Sim Burnette Atkinson, Glen Atkinson, Wayland Atkinson; and sisters, Ethel (Mann) Atkinson and Susie Atkinson. She is survived by her husband, Anthony Di Girolamo of Cameron; a sister, Audrey Pauline Atkinson of San Antonio; a brother, John Atkinson of Clovis, NM. She is also survived by two sons, Anthony Di Girolamo Jr. of Bordentown, NJ and John Burnette Di Girolamo of Jones Prairie; two daughters, Barbara Ellen (Di Girolamo) Ruggiero of Moody and Mary Ann (Di Girolamo) Tullo of Brooklyn, NY; six grandchildren, Federico Michael Ruggiero of Long Beach, CA; Anthony Michael Ruggiero of San Juan Capistrano, CA; Emma Marie (Ruggiero) Polman of Plano, Christine Di Girolamo and Catherine Di Girolamo both of Bordentown, NJ, Lisa Tullo of Brooklyn, NY and a great grandson, Nicholas John Ruggiero of San Juan Capistrano, CA. Memorials may be made to the VFW Post No. 2010 in Cameron or Little River Baptist Church in Jones Prairie.
