Finley, III and the late Sue Sellors Finley. He passed away on Feb. 25, 2005, at the age of 37 after a long struggle with drug addiction. Dr. Finley grew up in Corpus Christi. He attended Incarnate Word Academy where he was an outstanding basketball player and graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1985. Mr. Finley graduated with a B.A. from Austin College in Sherman, completed post-graduate work at Texas A&M University in College Station and received his D.D.S from University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1999. He received an advanced degree from Asahi University School of Dentistry in Asahi, Japan. He is survived by his father, George Finley and his wife Phyllis Finley of Corpus Christi; sister, Valerie Finley Armstrong and husband Beau Armstrong; niece, Addy Armstrong and nephew Buck Armstrong of Austin; aunts and uncles, Sam and Val Dunnam of Austin, Sue Finley Moody of Scottsdale, AZ, Hans and Susan Lagerloef of Tucson, AZ and J.P. Lagerloef of Panama City, FL; step-brother, Drew and wife Eileen Liedecker of Austin; step-sister, Shelby and husband Chad Mauldin of San Antonio and their children. Mr. Finely is also survived by numerous cousins and friends. Dr. Finley was a dental surgeon, formerly in Rockdale, licensed pilot, and an athlete. His love of sports began with tennis and skateboarding, and he was talented in water sports including surfing, wind surfing, sailing and wakeboarding. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 3, at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Austin and at 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Corpus Christi.
