John Warren of St. John’s United Methodist Church officiating. Mr. Avrett died Friday, March 4, in a Taylor nursing facility. He was born Nov. 11, 1930, in the Pleasant Hill community near Rockdale to Ralph and Annie Claudia Bownds Avrett. He was a resident of Temple for the past eight years, having previously lived in California and Oregon. Mr. Avrett was an accountant and enjoyed photography and art. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Avrett was a Methodist. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Maline Avrett Caraway; and three brothers, Howard, Floyd and Marshal Avrett. Survivors are a sister, Florine Sorenson of Thorndale, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers were Bobby Yount, Charles Yount, Kregg Yount, Greg Yount, Bill Avrett and Jimmie Survant.
