P. Simmons of Rockdale has Stirring Adventure R. P. Simmons of Rockdale, a marblecutter, was admitted to Parkland hospital at 2 o’clock Sunday morning in a physically wrecked condition. His left arm was broken between the elbow and the shoulder, and below the elbow there was two or three deep gashes, inflicted by a sharp instrument of some sort. In addition to these injuries, he had been stabbed under the right and left shoulder blades. He informed the police that four unknown negroes attacked him in South Dallas, that he put up the best fight he was capable of making and finally, deeming discretion the better part of valor, made a good run for his life, reaching the corner of Main and Austin streets in a very demoralized condition. The police telephoned for the hospital ambulance and Simmons was taken to Parkland, where Superintendent Florence and his assistants set the broken arm and dressed his wounds. He lost $10 or $12 in the melee.
