Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Monday, March 14 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Luther Shelander officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Minerva. He was born on July 15, 1945 in Rosebud to H.D. “Shorty” and Alma Ruth (McAlpine) Soloman. Mr. Soloman was raised in Rosebud and moved to Rockdale in 1953. He was a 1963 graduate of Rockdale High School. After graduation he joined the U.S. Army and served at Ft. Polk, LA and Ft. Carson, CO. Mr. Soloman was a working cowboy, raised horses, cowboyed, and also worked at several ranches in Texas. He married Gail Ferrell on June 12, 2004 in Minerva. Mr. Soloman was preceded in death by his father on Aug. 20, 1999, daughter, Stephanie Young on Feb. 1, and brother Richard B. Soloman. Survivors include his wife, Gail Soloman of Minerva; sons, Billy Soloman of Rockdale, Dean Soloman of Kopperl, Michael Young of Stephenville; daughter Amanda Burkett of Minerva; mother Ruth Soloman of Minerva; two brothers, Wayne Soloman of Minerva, Edric Soloman of Minerva; 12 grandchildren; also several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Pallbearers included Michael Young, Rod Roderick, Edric Soloman, Bobby Jenkins, Roy Dale Triggs and Alva Brown. Honorary pallbearers were James Ray Soloman, Bobby Farrell, Sonny Adams, Joel Graham and Derek Soloman.
