Hilton, 69, died Thursday, March 3, 2005, in the V.A. Hospital in Temple. Graveside services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, in the Salty Cemetery near Rockdale with Rev. Vickie Averitt of United Methodist Church of Thorndale officiating. He was born Dec. 29, 1935, in the Salty community near Rockdale to Linwood and Edna (Newman) Hilton. Since retiring from the U.S. Air Force as a tech sergeant, Mr. Hilton was a resident of Thorndale for the past 28 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, from July 4, 1956, to July 31, 1976. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Hilton. Survivors include father, Linwood Hilton of Thorndale; brothers, James L. Hilton and wife Lucille of Thorndale, Frank H. Hilton and wife Bonnie of Thorndale.
