Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Thursday, March 17, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Minister Bill Whaley of Murray Street Church of Christ officiating. She was born March 30, 1926, near Trinity to James Edward and Lavelle L. (Gray) Thornton. She married Preston D. Money in Houston. Mrs. Money worked in the serving line at Picadilly Cafeteria and was cook at Luby’s before retiring in 1978. She was a resident of Rockdale for the past 20 years. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 14, 1987; a son, George Madison Money; her parents; and sisters Uvenia Richards and Murl Stanley. Survivors include three sons E.W. Money of Trinity, Preston Daniel Money Jr. of Tyler, Nathan Money of Bryan; daughter Kitty Louise Parish of Cedar Park; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
