I offer what little I know about her: On the 1870 Milam Co. census Ruth (age 80 or 84 writing unclear and the spelling of her name is "Rutha") is listed in the household of her son Dixon and daughter-in-law Elizabeth and grandchildren William (11) Allen (9) Frank (4) Rutha (3) and baby (1/12). Living next door is John & Emily Estes. Emily is Ruth's daughter. On the 1880 Dixon & family have moved to San Saba Co., TX and Ruth (age 90) is living in the household of Emily Estes. According to both census Ruth's place of birth is Tennessee. I am assuming that William T. Dyer is also a son but the only reference that I have found for a W. T. Dyer is the listing on the registration list after the Civil War. I have tried unsuccessfully to get any Milam County court records, wills, deed records and tax roll information on microfilms from the Texas State Archives. I had hoped to find some clue but haven't had much luck so far. Thank you for undertaking the project of preserving the Laughlin Family Cemetery.
