Weldon Belew officiating. She died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002 in Longview. Mrs. Shingler, formerly of Farmington, NM, was born Oct. 9. 1925 to Bessie and William E. Stence in Ranger. She and Robert L. Shingler Jr. were married Feb. 21, 1946 in Weatherford. Mrs. Shingler, an administrator with Conoco, Inc., was a member and very active in Bethany Christian Church in Farmington, New Mexico and president of Christian Women’s Fellowship and other offices of the church. She was a graduate of Kilgore Junior College and was a member of Rangeretts Forever. Mrs. Shingler was also member and still active in the Desk & Derrick Club, Eastern Star, The Extension Club, The Women’s Network, Women in Petroleum Industry and many other clubs and organizations until she suffered a stroke. She tutored Native Americans in the Farmington area for many years. Preceding her in death were a daughter, Sherry Shingler, parents and husband and a brother, Robert E. Stence Sr. Surviving are: Niece, Cindy Still and husband Shane; nephews, Larry Stence and wife Lisa, Robert Stence and wife Karen, Edward Stence and wife Peggy and Tommy Stence; sister-in-law, Pat Wildrix; cousins, Dorris Henry and husband Milford.
