James Mann officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. He died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002 in an Austin hospital following a battle with cancer. Mr. Morrison was born Oct. 12, 1943 in Thorndale, the son of Voy and Ethel (Hobbs) Morrison. He and Sherry Leschber were married Jan. 19, 1962. Mr. Morrison was a longtime resident of Taylor before moving to Thrall where he fulfilled his dream of moving back to the country where he raised miniature donkeys, catfish and many cats and dogs, including his faithful border collie/companion, Rodeo. Mr. Morrison was employed for over 25 years with Floyd’s Glass as a commercial field superintendent and safety director. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale and had served as president of Taylor Volunteer Fire Department, had been active with the Taylor Barbecue Cook-Off since its inception, served as a Little League coach and had been a paramedic with Williamson County. Preceding him in death was his father. Surviving are: Wife, Sherry Morrison of Thrall; mother, Ethel Morrison of Thorndale; two sons, Kevin Morrison and wife Terri and children Brooke and Justin of Round Rock and Steven Morrison and wife Toni and children Megan and Trent of Taylor; sister, Bettye Tillotson and husband Brad of Garland; three brothers, Edwin Morrison of Thorndale, Wendon Morrison and wife Jane of Fairfield and Randy Morrison and wife LaMerle of Thorndale. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002 at Condra Funeral Home, Taylor. Pallbearers will be Larry Helbert, Gary Wiede, Larry Roepke, Ronnie Becker, Floyd Zuehlke Jr. and Dan Martinka. Honorary pallbearers are Floyd Zuehlke Sr., Doyle Davis, Gaylon Parker, Richard Frankeny, Jack Garner, Dan Kropp and Edward Jonas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Paul Lutheran Church School, Thorndale.
