Frank Aragon and Rev. Doug Springer officiating. Burial followed in Norwood Cemetery, Hearne. He died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002 at his residence. Mr. Shannon, a long time resident of Hearne, was born Dec. 9, 1941. He was a specialist in security, EMS and fire protection at Alcoa in Rockdale. Mr. Shannon was a member of State Fireman’s and Fire Marshall’s Association of Texas, Robertson County Association, affiliated with the Robertson County DPS officers, member of the Hearne Police Auxiliary, instructor for the Texas A&M Fire Training School, honor member of the Black Jack and the Hearne Fire Departments and was a manager for the Brookshire Brothers Supermarket in Hearne for many years. Surviving are: Friend and companion, Audrey Woodworth of Lexington; sons, David Shannon and wife Tammy of Hearne and John Shannon of Houston; daughter, Kay Ingram and husband James of Bryan; daughter-in-law, Kelly Shannon of Mumford; brothers, Burnice Shannon, E.J. Shannon, J.W. Shannon and J.R. Shannon; sister, Minnie Ryster; three grandchildren, Kayla Shannon, Justin Shannon and Zachary Johnson.
