Penrose, 65, of Malakoff were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with Steve Lamb officiating. Mrs. Penrose died Sept. 9 in an Athens hospital. She was born June 19, 1937, in Buckholts to R.B. and Ernestine Lamb. A resident of Malakoff since 1977, she grew up in Rockdale and graduated from Rockdale High School in 1959. Mrs. Penrose was formerly employed at Henderson County Memorial Hospital and Spanish Trace Inn. Preceding her in death were her husband, Glen C. Penrose, in 1976 and two brothers, Johnny and Roy Lamb. Survivors include a son, Tarrance Penrose of Malakoff; two daughters, Virginia Penrose of Lewisville and Joy Dyer of Eustace; three brothers, Don Lamb of Athens, Jim Lamb of Morgan and Steve Lamb of Kaufman; two sisters, Barbara Bevers of Kerens and Cora Gali of Rusk; and two grandchildren, Austin Dyer and Sarah Dyer. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
