Mr. Cleveland died Monday, Aug. 19, in a Cuero hospital. A resident of Rockdale for 49 years, he was born Dec. 24, 1921, in Frost to Grover and Georgie (Kite) Cleveland. He married Estelle Jennings on Jan. 10, 1948, in Robinson. Mr. Cleveland was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for 30 years as a crane operator at Alcoa’s Rockdale Operations. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers and sisters. Survivors are his wife, Estelle Cleveland of Rockdale; two sons, Joe Wayne Cleveland and wife Sarah of Rockdale and Carl Cleveland and wife Donna of Georgetown; two daughters, Shirley Leopold and husband Robert and Brenda Barchenger and husband Joe, all of Rockdale; 11 grandchildren, Kenny Cleveland and wife Lindsay, Nikki Kirk and husband Joe, Shellea Griner and husband James, Tish Todd and husband Mike, Chasity Cleveland, Steve Hicks, Shelbye Weise and husband Coby, Dustin Leopold and wife Tammy, Melanie Elliston and husband Robert, Jason Barcak and Brittany Barchenger; also, 14 great-grandchildren.
