Mr. Hunt, so good to hear from you. I am going to try to get a Texas Historical Cemetery Designation for the cemetery where Isaac B. Garner is buried. My great, great grandparents and my great grandparents are buried in the same cemetery which is called Millerton or Freezeout. First, I will have to determine which name to use as the primary name, I lean toward Millerton but what is your feeling? I believe my great, great grandfather E. D. Snodgrass who died in 1863 is the oldest recorded burial in the cemetery. I will need to write a history of the cemetery therefore I would like to know something about Isaac B. Garner since he is shown as a Texas veteran, he would be one of the most historical persons buried there. Would like to know if the people buried all lived in the same community and possibly if they had any common relationship. I only know personally about the eleven Snodgrasses buried there and Ruth Crump whose grandmother was a Snodgrass. Do you know who owned the land originally where this cemetery is located? Do any of the Garner deeds mention a cemetery that you know about? Also do you know who erected the chain link fence and/or when it was erected? When I was there prior to 1980 there was only a barbed wire fence. I need to know the exact size of the cemetery so if I could locate the person who erected the fence, this question might be answered. Too, this would be part of the history of the cemetery. Again thank you for answering and looking forward to hearing from you. Joy Neely joyn@industryinet.com
http://freepages.genealogy.roots web.com/~acastleman/freezeout_cleanup/freezeout_cleanup.htm I am sending a website that I was sent about the cemetery. I have always seen it listed as Freezeout Cemetery and always thought it as an odd name. As you probably know, it is on Alcoa property and you have to ask permission to enter. I wish that the cemetery could be dedicated to its own area and have its own entrance. I corresponded with Mr.Castleman and he may be able to help with the fence. On the link above there is another link to his personal webpage. I will put some things together about Isaac and send to you and I will check through my records to see if I have corresponded with anyone about the cemetery. Hilton
