Stanford, 65, of Roland, AR, formerly of Cameron died Sept. 18. The Rev. Howard Gordon officiated at his funeral Sept. 21 at First Presbyterian Church. Stanford was born in Cameron, the son of Dewitt Carter Stanford and wife Reba Burnett Stanford. He graduated from high school in Beaumont before attending Texas A&M University on a football scholarship. After college, he worked for the Beaumont Fire Dept. and trained quarter horses. Five years later, he married Linda Bell and moved to Roland, AR. He was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Assn and National Snaffle Bit Assn. He is survived by his parents; wife; stepson Ray Bell; stepdaughter Hollie Anderson; brothers Charles Stanford of Pecos and Kenneth Stanford of Cameron; sister Martha Bruce of Beaumont; and grandchildren Chandler, Michael Ray, Hayden, Tyler and Caroline.
