Jost, 78, of Salty were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale with Rev. Calvin Springer officiating. Mr. Jost died Saturday, Aug. 31, in Rockdale. A lifelong resident of Salty, he was born Jan. 3, 1924, in Salty to William F. and Lena (Berndt) Jost. He attended school at Gay Hill and was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Jost was a carpenter. Preceding him in death were a brother, William Arthur Jost; a stepdaughter, Sharon Elaine Anness Eurbanek; and his parents, William F. and Lena Jost. Survivors are his wife, Sylvia Jost of Rockdale; two stepsons, Buell Clark Anness of Bruceville-Eddy and Patrick Michael Anness of Rockdale; a stepdaughter, Evelyn Anness of Houston; also, a close friend, Roger (Sonny) Scruggs and wife, Betty of the Shiloh community.
