Both his parents were from Virginia. His wife, Mary L., was born about 1821 in Illinois with parents who also originated from Illinois. I found an 1880 census of them in Precinct 7, Dallas, Texas. The children listed are Sarah E. Pruitt, 30, TX; Josaphine (sic) Pruitt, 17, TX; John M. Pruitt, 15, TX; and my Great Grandmother, Charlotte Pruitt, 14, 1866, TX, who married Andrew Jackson McCarty in 1885 in Texas; and Joseph W. Pruitt, 12, born in TX. >From my research, it appears that Joseph Pruitt's parents may tie into the families in Virginia since this is where they originate from. I would appreciate any census, marriage, land or birth leads that anyone may stumble across to solve this puzzle. Thank you so much. Corine
