Interment followed at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Rains died Thursday, July 18. He was a 1954 graduate of Rockdale High School where he excelled in basketball for the 1954 Tigers who won district and bi-district and advanced to the regional semifinals. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Peggy Koch Rains, also a 1954 RHS graduate; a daughter, Denise Childress and husband Johnnie; son Matt Rains and wife Tommie; mother-in-law Lillie Koch of Austin, formerly of Rockdale; sisters, Carole Murchison and Joy Moore; grandson Jason Childress; and granddaughters Brandi Rains and Amanda Rains.
