Galveston Daily News Thur., 21 February 1878, p. 1, c. 3 Rockdale, Feb. 20 - This morning at 1:30 a.m., fire was discovered in the dry goods store of A. Goldstein & Co. on Main St. It was impossible to remove anything from the house as no one was up at that hour but Officer Durham, who discovered the fire. The flames soon took in turn the house of W. Max & Co. and H. Goldsticker, entirely destroying them all of which were new bricks in the business center of the city. The disaster leaves another fearful wake of destruction in this place. Goldsteins loss is not definitely ascertain; insured for $6,000. The balance of loss is estimated at $12,000; fully insured. It is reported that Ed. Ambron, partner of W.
