Larry Griffith of First Baptist Church in Thorndale officiating. Burial was in Mesquite Cemetery near Lexington. Mrs. Sorenson died Thursday morning, June 1, in John’s Community Hospital in Taylor. A Taylor resident for the past 10 years, she was formerly a longtime resident of Thorndale. She was born Nov. 7, 1914, in Milam County to Ada Genora (Scales) McWilliams and Edward Hamilton McWilliams. Mrs. Sorenson was a school teacher at Liberty School and a homemaker. She attended Texas State University in San Marcos for two years. She married Harvis R. Sorenson on Aug. 2, 1934, in John Yount’s home in the Watson Branch community. Mrs. Sorenson was a member of Watson Branch Baptist church near Thorndale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvis Sorenson, on Dec. 14, 1998; her parents; a brother, Eudale McWilliams; and a great-granddaughter, Rachael Survant. Survivors are a son, Gene C. Sorenson and wife Debbie of El Campo; three daughters; Wynell Survant and husband Jimmie of Thorndale, Genora Twitty and husband Terry of Taylor, Harvene Dickerson and husband Gordon of Thorndale; 11 grandchildren, Corla Jean Parker and husband Phil of Round Rock, Wynette Murray of Bryan, Jim Survant and wife Laura of Bryan, Jeffrey Williams and wife Vicki of Taft, Jason Williams of Taylor, John Williams and wife Trissa of Taylor, Traci Dickerson Grimm and husband John of Thorndale, Bradley Dickerson and wife Jenny of Taylor, Dana Cunningham of Huntsville, Will Sorenson of Grapevine, Russ Sorenson of Huntsville; 14 great-grandchildren, Jeannie Johnson and husband Nathan, Christy Taylor and husband Chris, Monica Greer, Misti Lewis, Rebekah Lowrence, Megan Murray, Jennifer Hutto, Alex Survant, Kenna Williams, Devin Dickerson, Abigail Dickerson, Bryce Dickerson, Chloe Grimm, Kyla Cunningham; and five great-great-grandchildren, McKenna and Kenylee Jo! hnson, Collin, Meagan and Timothy Taylor.
