Owens, 80, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006 in the William Courtney Veteran’s Nursing Home in Temple. Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Saturday, June 10 at Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home in Hearne with Rev. Larry Blackmon officiating. Burial followed in the Gause Cemetery in Gause. Mr. Owens was born April 29, 1926 in Steele, AL. He served in the U.S. Army and was member of Gause Baptist Church. Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Ruth Owens. Survivors include daughter, Ruth Perry and husband John of Rockdale; two sisters, Marie James of Garland and Virginia Clements of Hueytown, AL; two grandsons, Ernest Edward Perry of Thorndale and David Thomas Perry of Rockdale.
