Seeking information on Alice Brown, DOB 1882 probably in Fayette County, TX. She was my grandmother’s older half-sister. Name is given on the 1920 Federal census as Alice, but my aunts insist it was not that, and in fact on the census record itself it looks like something else (although it begins with an "A" and was transcribed as Alice). The 1920 census lists her as Alice Thornton, widowed, living in Davilla, Milam county with children Era, Louis, Vittoria, Charlie, and Lucy. We do not know her husband’s first name. We believe her last child was Charles Alfred Brown, born in Burleson County on 11/18/1921. Again, we do not know her husband’s first name or where she was buried. We think she died between 1921 and 1930. In 1930 her son was listed as living with his grandmother, Hattie Johnson, on the Milam census. The Thornton girls lived with my grandmother, Ella Minor Hughes, and her family in Milam County. I did find an Alice Brown listed in the Burleson county probate records between 1911 and 1922, but do not know if that is the same person. Any help would be appreciated.
