M. Williams. On last Saturday night, Deputy Sheriff Green, with a small party went out in the vicinity of the residence of Boyles, for the purpose of obtaining some clue to the whereabouts of the murderers of the lamented Williams. Soon after Sheriff Mitchuson left with another party for the same purpose, but did not know the precise locality of Green’s party. The last party was making their way through the woods, Ben Traynham in advance, who was halted by W. Smith, one of Green’s party. Traynham responded, “friends and sheriff’s party,” but unfortunately Smith did not comprehend him, seeing with Traynham squatted and cocked his gun and demanded of Smith who is was. At this juncture Smith fired and Traynham fell. Happily for all, the gun was loaded with duck shot, otherwise the consequences would have proven fa! tal. As it is, Traynham is painfully, though not dangerously, shot He is doing well, and with no doubt be up in a few days.
