Cemetery in Rockdale with Rev. Bill Smith officiating. She died Saturday, Nov. 9. 2002 at the Cottages in Chandler Creek in Round Rock. Mrs. Magness, a Rockdale resident since 1954, was born Oct. 8, 1914 in Selma, Arkansas to Edward Barrett and Ida Mae Walton Barrett. A homemaker, she and the late Fred D. Magness were married January of 1932 in Drew County, AR. Mrs. Magness, an avid gardener, cook, seamstress and golfer, was the Woman’s Club Champion at Rockdale Country Club. She was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church of Rockdale, volunteer at Richards Memorial Hospital and Meals on Wheels and member of Eastern Star Chapter #23. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, July 30, 1987; daughter, Betty Carol Magness. Surviving are: Daughters, Jodie Steger and husband Charles of Georgetown and Rita Hull and husband Dan of Waco; grandchildren, Perry Steger and wife Mary and Holly Steger Stevens and husband Patrick all of Georgetown, Darrell Hull and wife Joyce of Waco, David Hull and wife Sherri and Julie Hull Grevelle and husband David of Austin; 10 great-grandchildren.
