The Revs. Jack Mitchell, retired, and Charles Stark of Faith United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Rest-Ever Memorial Park in Bryan. Mr. Garrett died Saturday night in St. Joseph Hospital. He was born in Milam County and moved to Bryan 45 years ago. Mr. Garrett was a retired service station operator and a Baptist. Family members said Mr. Garrett was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman. Mr. Garrett was preceded in death by his wife, LaRue (Douglas) Garrett; two brothers, Walter “Pete” Garrett and Roy Garrett; and a sister, Vera Hauk. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Minkert Garrett of Bryan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald D. and Florine Garrett of Bryan and Thomas A. and Stephenie Garrett of San Diego; a stepson and his wife, Jesse and Joan Minkert of Seattle; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Lee Rhea of Bryan and Margaret and Fred Evins of Austin; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Patti and Pete Clark of College Station and Liz Beth and Ed Johnson of Murfressboro, TN; two brothers and sisters-in-law John and Lodema Garrett of Fort Worth and Robert c. and Billie Garrett of Kurten; a sister and brother-in-law, Leola Todd and Bill Davis of Bryan; and eight grandchildren. = = = = NOTE = = = = He was the son of Thomas Walter Garrett and Cora Elizabeth Williams Garrett
