A THWEATT WILLIAM THOMAS THWEATT, III - June 16, 1975-March 9, 2005 - W. Tom Thweatt III, age 29, was taken suddenly on March 9, 2005, in a tragic automobile accident. Born June 16, 1975 in Houston. Tom grew up in the greater Houston area and lived with his family on assignment to Algeria, London and The Hague, graduating as Salutatorian of his high school class at The American School in The Hague. He returned to the states to attend Texas A&M University, where he earned his BS degree in psychology, Magna Cum Laude, in only three years. He worked in College Station for a few years in the restaurant business with Café Excel and Freebird's, the returned to the Mays Business School at Texas A&M and earned an MBA. At the time of his untimely death, Tom was within a few months of earning his second master's degree, this one in counseling psychology at Sam Houston State University. He planned to pursue his doctorate in psychology in spiritual counseling to become a professor of psychology and practicing counselor. It was in his teaching, as a graduate student, where Tom discovered his passion and love for teaching. His teaching became another avenue for Tom to help and give back to all those around him. Kindred spirits and soul mates, Tom and Anne-Marie married August 9, 2003, and enjoyed 19 too-short months of shared marital happiness, hopes, dreams, and mutual fulfillment. They enjoyed camping, hiking, skiing, and outdoor activities, especially in the mountains of Colorado. They shared a passion for the Lakota's Red Road, where Tom was a drummer and singer of Native American songs in the native language. Tom had great love for his family and friends, and though he loved this life and would not choose to leave us, he did not fear death; relying on a deep faith in God, he saw the earthly life as a step toward the eternal life to come. A truly gentle man, Tom touched every life he encountered and hurt no one in passing through this life. Tom is survived by his two loving families, the Thweatts and the Giardinos.
